My Kitchen Island
Designing, upcycling, & personalizing
In 2019, I moved into my first unfurnished apartment. With limitations on how personalized one can make a rental unit, I looked for ways to make it my own. After finding an old beat-up tabletop without legs on the side of the road, I was determined to turn it into a functional kitchen island that highlighted its renovated origin!
Through explorations of possible table legs to pair with the tabletop, I settled on utilizing beat-up wood pallets to up-cycle into the project. After construction, an application of oil-based black stain was added to the pallets to give them a more unified and clean appearance.
